 Often associated with children's bed time tales, the bed bug is a small, flat, oval shaped insect. They most commonly feed on human blood but will also bite pets if necessary. The bed bug's bite is painless but it leaves behind an inflamed itchy area. It is a common myth that bed bugs are undetectable by the human eye. You can easily spot a bed bug in it's adult form. Bed bugs typically spread from one home to another by way of furniture and bedding. If your home is attached to a residence that has bed bugs they can also travel by way of cracks and utility voids. Common signs of bed bugs are blood spots on your mattress, bedding, and walls. They will leave behind small black spots and their molted skin. It is also common to have a "raspberry" odor along with the presence of bed bugs.
